Ferndale Board

The Ferndale Board has an important role in making sure every child at their school can reach their highest possible standard in educational achievement.  To do this, the board needs to also focus on three other key objectives, including:

  • Ensuring the school is a physically and emotionally safe place for all students and staff

  • Is inclusive of and caters for all students of differing needs

  • Gives effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Key ways the board achieves these objectives include:

  • Working with the principal and consulting with staff, students and the community

  • Setting the educational goals and strategic direction of the school

  • Deciding how the school's funding will be spent on achieving its objectives

  • Monitoring progress and informing parents on how the school is progressing against its annual targets, and on the development of the students

  • Selecting the school's principal and supporting the development of all staff

  • Overseeing the management of staff, property, finances, curriculum and administration.
